Hans-Hermann Deters will be joining the executive board of Ara Shoes as of Aug. 1, filling a new position where he will have responsibility for marketing, distribution and sales. The 51-year-old was most recently the chief executive of Kettler, the leading German manufacturer of fitness equipment, tennis tables and playgrounds. Deters originally studied law and worked in news publishing, but he soon moved into the sporting goods sector. He spent more than 13 years with Reebok, rising to the rank of chief executive in charge of all the operations in Germany and the rest of Central Europe until he left the company in 2006 in connection with its takeover by Adidas Group. On the executive board of Ara Shoes, Deters will work together with Tobias Zimmerer, president and head of production, technology and operations, and Thomas Schmies, responsible for the company's finance and administration.
