Head has decided to put an end to its footwear license with Portman International of Singapore at the end of September. Portman was a joint venture between a local trading company and Romika, which held the Head license until 2001 and was taken over by Josef Seibel a few months ago. The Austrian sports brand has decided to develop and market performance shoes for tennis on its own. For casual and lifestyle shoes, it has granted a license to a Swiss company, AM Sports, that covers all European countries except Italy and the UK, starting with the Spring/Summer 2006 collection. L+S will cover the Italian market and William Lamb Footwear will cover the UK. AM Sports, which has its administrative offices in Germany, belong to the Astor Müller group, which is also a licensee for Bugatti shoes.
