At the end of 2019, Giles Coulson became the first head of product development and research at Hotter, the British footwear producer. Coulson had just spent almost three years as head of product development at Hudson Shoe Agencies in Sri Lanka. Before that he spent another three years as vice president of Far East operations in China and of global sourcing in the U.S. In a career that stretches back to 1988, he has also worked in sourcing or product development for Dr. Martens, Clarks, J Shoes, CK Shoes and Lacoste. He began as footwear technologist with Satra. Hotter is a direct-to-consumer digital brand founded in 1959 and claims to be the largest shoe manufacturer in the U.K.
