Huajian is looking at investments in the Egyptian market, according to a recent statement by the Egyptian trade minister, Amr Nassar. The company is planning to build a new industrial area in El Roubiki Leather City, in the suburbs of Egypt's capital city, not far from Cairo's international airport. The project is expected to allow for a significant increase in the production of premium leather products, the minister said. Huajian has already planned investments in other African countries, such as Ethiopia and Nigeria, and is also reportedly planning to invest in Zimbabwe. Huajian makes around 20 million shoes per year.
