Impactiva, the leading quality assurance service provider for the footwear industry, has announced the appointment of Rodney Hammond to the newly-created position of chief operating officer, effective Feb. 1. Based at the company's office in Dongguan, he brings more than 35 years of experience in the automotive leather, shoe leather and chemical industries, working for companies such as Seton and Stahl. The company says that he has vast experience in implementing lean manufacturing systems that help reduce costs and increase profits. Hammond reports to Jose R. Suarez, Impactiva's founder and managing director. In the last few months, Impactiva gained some important new clients in the footwear business including Aldo Geox and Camel Active. The company is adding new services including audits of tanneries and training consultancies for shoe factories.
