In the wake of the terror attack in Mumbai last month, the Pakistan Tanners’ Association may not participate in the International Leather Fair in Chennai, India, from Jan. 31-Feb. 3. The group said it was concerned about security risks and tense diplomatic relations between the countries. Though the Pakistani government has offered subsidies to defray the costs of attending the fair, many members of the PTA were considering backing out. Fifteen companies were going to participate collectively, with another 40 exporters planning to attend individually.
