Jamie Cygielman has been appointed from Jan. 3 as executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Iconix Brand Group, the U.S. company that has rights to brands from Umbro to Danskin, Starter, Pony and Ocean Pacific. She joins after marketing and business development functions at companies such as The Jones Group, Madison Square Garden, Mattel, Revlon, and Hit Entertainment. Cygielman is currently general manager and executive vice president at Madame Alexander Doll Company. The appointment comes after a mixed performance in the third quarter, which led to a downward adjustment in the group's full-year sales guidance. The group said its sales for the year should be about $3 to $5 million below its previous estimate, which was at the low end of its $370 million to $390 million guidance. At an investor meeting held on Nov. 15, Iconix Brand Group described 2016 as a year of transition. It was marked by management changes, with the arrival of John Haugh as chief executive in April, a strategic review and refinancing. The presentation saw 2017 as a year of evolution, with more significant growth to come in the next two years. Danskin, Umbro, Starter and Pony U.S. were all described as growth drivers in the active segment.
