J’hayber has eliminated single-use plastic in its Olimpo collection. The Spanish brand of sneakers, apparel and padel equipment plans in time to eliminate such plastic from all of its products. To this end, it has forged an environmental policy around the “three R’s” – reduce, reuse and recycle – and minted a slogan to go along with it: “J’hayber is blue, for the sake of our oceans.” According to the company, the changes to Olimpo sneakers, which are manufactured in the town of Elche, have cut more than a half-ton of plastic from its domestic production chain. The sneakers have been packaged individually in plastic bags since their launch in 1972. By summer 2020, the company hopes to be stamping its textile and padel packaging with a logotype that urges consumers to recycle.
