Joe Wood, the president of the retail division of Brown Shoe Company, is going to retire next year. He joined the company in 2002. Rick Ausick will step up to become division president of Famous Footwear, while John Mazurk will oversee the direct-to-consumer channel of retail in his new role as senior vice president-consumer and retail business development. Ausick moves up from his job as division president-Brown Shoe wholesale, where he oversees Naturalizer, Via Spiga, Franco Sarto, Etienne Aigner, Vera Wang Lavender and Nickels Soft. He has also been with the company since 2002; Mazurk joined in 2002. Brown Shoe also announced that its division president-wholesale, Gary Rich, will retire early next year. He will be replaced by Mark Lardie in leading Naturalizer, Dr. Scholl’s and LifeStride as well as specialty retail stores. Lardie started with Famous Footwear in 2005. Dan Friedman will be the new division president-wholesale, product and sourcing, taking care of women’s specialty, children’s and celebrity artist brands. He’s been with the company since 2006. Clay Jenkins takes over the role of senior vice president-specialty brands; he is a 20-year veteran of the company. Jay Schmidt adds senior vice president-wholesale, better and image brands to his job in charge of Via Spiga and Vera Wang Lavender.
