Jones Apparel Group posted a 9.8 percent increase in total revenues to $1,296 million in the 3rd quarter ended Oct. 2 as the acquisition of Maxwell Shoe, Kasper and Anne Klein more than offset the loss of its Lauren and Ralph jeans licenses. In the wholesale, footwear and accessories division, which includes Nine West Group, the revenue stream jumped to $332.9 million from $259.7 million, but the operating margin shrank from 19.1 to 15.0 percent. For the whole group, accounting adjustments related to Maxwell’s acquisition led to a drop in the operating margin to 12.7 percent from 13.9 percent. The group’s net income improved slightly to $95.8 million for the quarter.
