Lanxess has opened a new leather laboratory in Karachi, Pakistan. The German chemicals company saw its sales decline by 2.9 percent to €6.94 billion in 2006. However, adjusted sales were up by 1.2 percent. Earnings before interest, taxes, amortization and depreciation (EBITDA) climbed by 16.2 percent to €675 million, while operating results (EBIT) totaled €197 million. Net income for the year jumped to €197 million, as compared to a loss of €63 million in 2005. For 2007 Lanxess expects operating results to further improve and anticipates modest sales growth.
