The European Footwear Confederation (CEC) and the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), along with 64 other industry groups worldwide, urged governments and international financial institutions to implement coordinated efforts to address the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The trade associations represent the textile, apparel, footwear, travel goods, and fashion industry. They called on the authorities to enact temporary stimulus measures to ensure liquidity; undertake temporary duty deferral and tariff relief to support liquidity and cash flow, as well as keeping workers employed. The industry groups also asked governments to refrain from imposing new trade restrictions and impeding the manufacturing or delivery of personal protective equipment, or of the intermediate products and raw materials necessary for its production.
