Lidl has published a list of its 650 suppliers for its private label lines of shoes and clothing, adding the names and the locations of their main factories. The list is meant to be updated twice a year. Claiming to be the first food discounter to take such action, Lidl says it is meant to create transparency about its supply chain and to show its commitment to the environment and social responsibility. Lidl, which operates 3,200 stores, has been for ten years a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative.
