Lyst, a global metasearch platform for fashion, has launched what it calls the Sneaker Intelligence Unit. The company has recruited a network of “sneaker experts” by administering an online test and, for those who score at least 80 percent, a “'mastery' stage challenge.” Lyst then solicits opinions from these experts to round out reports derived from the company's own search-generated data. In addition to being paid for their opinions, the experts gain access to industry events and product launches and enjoy a “sneaker allowance.” Lyst was founded in 2010 in London with a dual purpose: to become the world's fashion portal and, by the same token, to generate data on the industry.
