Steven Madden has become the exclusive distributor of Superga in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. For the iconic Italian brand of sneakers, which is owned by the BasicNet group, the match with the big American footwear group looks much better than the one it sealed a few years ago with R.G. Barry, the American supplier of slippers.
The deal with Madden is valid for three years and is extendable for another four. BasicNet said the target turnover is $24 million for the first three years and more than $95 million for the following four-year period.
In January, BasicNet struck deals to distribute Superga in Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. With the Madden deal, the fast-growing Italian brand is now present in 72 countries.
