By shifting its dates from September to the end of July, the GDS fair in Düsseldorf has won back some important German brands, such as Kennel & Schmenger and Ricosta, and won new ones. More than 900 companies will take part in a vastly revisited new edition of the show from July 30 to Aug. 1, and most of them will present their new styles for spring/summer 2015 ahead of other fairs.

In addition to some brands of accessories, new in the contemporary “Highstreet” section of the fair will be brands such as Fab by Fabienne, Gant Footwear, Giesswein, Jack Wolfskin, Lacoste, Marc O'Polo, Naturalizer, Napapijri Footwear, Noë, Ricosta and Viking. They will exhibit in the same area as established brands such as Ara, Birkenstock, Braun Büffel, Camel Active, Clarks, Donna Carolina, Gabor, Lloyd, Lowa, Manas, Salomon, Skechers, Steve Madden, Tamaris and Unisa.

In the “Pop-Up” area, the newcomers listed by the GDS are Dallasta, Faguo, Havaianas, Me & Macs and Replay Footwear. Many other brands will make their debut at the GDS in the “Studio” section: Anthony Miles, Barbour Footwear, Blauer, Freebird, Il Sandalo Italia, Jil Sander Navy, Kennel & Schmenger, Lario 1898, Maypol, Panchic, Patrizia Pepe, Porsche Design, Silvano Lattanzi, Smith's American and the No Animal brand.

Ara, Camel Active and possibly other brands will hold fashion shows at their stands during the fair. Berkemann will challenge visitors at its stand to compete in a draw for an Opel Adam car.

A total of more than 370 exhibitors will take part in tag it!, the new format for the adjoining sourcing show, which will start one day earlier on July 29. Important trading companies such as Cortina, Idana, Intermedium, Lenci-Poelman and Trend Design will show there.

More than 100 events revolving around shoes and accessories will be held in the city of Düsseldorf during the fair as part of an “Out of the Box” festival. It will kick off on Tuesday at 6 PM with shoe-related art and photo exhibitions at the art gallery of Petra Nostheide-Eycke and the Schwanenhöfe. The latter will feature the U.S. singer Beth Ditto as the celebrity guest.
