Marc Shoes, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, wants to listen more to its clients around the world in developing new products following the appointment of a new 38-year-old head designer, Alexander Lindau, who lives in London and worked for the brand on and off in the past in addition to big customers such as Buffalo and Novi Footwear. At the GDS fair in March, the company will present its anniversary collection including well-known and popular models from company's history. The German shoe brand, which was founded in 1938, recorded a slight increase in sales in 2012 as compared to the previous year. Marc recorded a one-digit increase in pre-orders for this year's spring/ summer collection and the first sell-out figures received from retailers have also been very positive. Sales outside Germany account currently for only 15 percent of the company's total sales. Marc, which has just opened a showroom in Moscow, aims to strengthen its position in the growing Eastern European markets and in China. The company is working on a more verticalized production process, with set delivery schedules, and in this context it may relocate some of its production from Asia closer to Europe.
