Marco Lachner, who has been working for Kangaroos' German licensee as head of brand and design since January, will be taking the newly created position of brand manager at Birkenstock from Jan. 1, 2015. In his new position, he will report directly to Rudy J. Haslbeck, director of product and design. At Bernd Hummel, the licensee for Kangaroos in Germany and many other European countries, Lachner was responsible for developing the brand and its product line in all the segments. He started working for Kangroos in 2010 as head of line and brand building. Before joining Bernd Hummel, Lachner worked as line product manager at Legero and as product manager for footwear at Vaude. For Birkenstock, the appointment of a brand manager is an further step in the reorganization of its product and design team. Birkenstock created new positions in sales and communication last year. The plan is to expand the brand's collections of children's shoes and closed shoes and to split the collections further, in order to attract different target groups. Lachner has experience in the development of prototypes and cooperating with external designers. He will continue to work for Kangaroos until the end of this year.
