Martin Krist, global business manager in charge of Esprit's shoe division, has left the group after 17 years at its helm. A successor has not yet been named. The company, which has gone through numerous changes in the top management, credited Krist for establishing Esprit as a major brand in the shoe market. Reportedly, sales of the footwear line recently reached an annual volume of more than five million pairs. His frequent introduction of new models in the shoe collections displayed in Esprit's stores has been likened to the methods adopted by vertical retailers like Zara.
