Micam ShoEvent kicks off tomorrow with a busy calendar for its four days. The exhibition takes place on 70,000 square meters, with 1,600 exhibitors from Italy and abroad showing off their mid- to high-end footwear collections for spring/summer 2012. This year includes Micam Point, where the shoe fair ventures into the heart of Milan, offering discussions and meetings until Sept. 21 at Via Borgonuovo 1. It is divided into La Fabbrica, with displays that demonstrate the making of shoes; a fitting room where visitors can pick out their favorite shoe; and a shooting set room, where they can be photographed wearing the shoes, in addition to a conference and meeting room. There will also be a special area set up for bloggers to work, as well as a lounge and catering area. Also for bloggers is Micam's competition called “Anci Creative Award: Bloggers Love Italian Shoes,” in which bloggers have been asked to provide an innovative new take on footwear, interpreted as an expression of creativity and the values of Italian products. The winner of the competition will receive the award during the Micam cocktail party on Sunday. The Micam Awards will go to the best Italian buyer and foreign buyers of Italian shoes. The Anci Youth Group has also set up the website www.iloveitalianshoes.eu, where customers could buy Italian shoes direct starting Friday before the show.
