Modacalzado+Iberpiel is preparing for its 31st edition, to be held at Feria de Madrid from March 9 to 11. Some of the new brands slated to show include Coolway, Armand Basi, José Sáenz, Liberitae, Rayfra and Paco Valiente. Already, 90 percent of the total number of pre-registered visitors from last year have signed up, ahead of the figure at this time last year. This edition of the show adds a new area that features small stands – 9 square meters – at especially low rates. Another incentive for exhibitors is the 5 percent discount they will receive if they return in September. The show is organized by Ifema with the Spanish Footwear Industries Federation (Fice) and the Spanish Association of Leather Goods, Travel Item and Accessory Manufacturers (Asefma). Though there is a prominent showing from domestic brands, international companies such as Mephisto, Nero Giardini, Robert Clergerie and Felmini are also taking part. The organizers have made a push to include more foreign buyers, particularly from areas that import a sizable amount of Spanish footwear, such as France, Italy, Portugal, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. The program of conferences featured by the IdeasLab area will be in effect once again, with sessions on social media and the internet, international trends, sustainability and technological innovation. This will be the last stand-alone Modacalzado+Iberpiel; beginning with this September's edition, the show will be held jointly with SIMM, the Madrid International Fashion Fair, under the umbrella brand Momad – Fashion Events in Madrid.
