Momad Metrópolis, the fashion fair held in Madrid on Sept. 11-13, was described as a success by its organizers in terms of both exhibitors and visitors. The number of registered buyers went up by 14 percent to 17,218 as compared to September 2014. Of those, nine percent came from outside Spain, mostly from Portugal, Italy and France. The 1,400 brands that showed their products were 16 percent more numerous than last February. With a total of 21,000 square meters rented out, the 735 textile brands occupied 19.8 percent more exhibition space, and the 394 footwear brands 30.2 percent more. As previously reported, the trade show had a single hall for domestic and foreign shoes, handbags and other accessories. They covered all the segments of the market. The organizers have decided to hold a textile-specific fair next Feb. 5-7 and a footwear-specific fair on March 5-7, but the plan to put the two sectors together again in September 2016.
