MosShoes has cancelled its Siberian and Ukrainian shoe shows in Novosibirks and Kiev for this year. Reflecting the tough new conditions of the Russian market, including the sharp depreciation of the ruble, the normal Moscow edition of MosShoes suffered an 18.3 percent drop in the number of visitors to 5,655 last month. Nevertheless HDS, the German shoe industry association, said that 85 percent of the 35 German exhibitors at the fair had decided to come back at the next show, which starts on Sept. 28. It cited positive results and the fact that Germany’s shoe exports to Russia grew last year by 11.1 percent last year to 5.1 million pairs, and their value was up by 12 percent to €183.4 million. A total of 284 exhibitors from 14 countries exhibited at MosShoes. The next edition in Moscow will take place from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1.
