Müller Meirer, a German manufacturer of leathergoods and leather shoes, recently assigned Uwe Janzen to the newly created position of sales director for shoes and international sales. The 59-year-old will be responsible for developing new export markets and expanding the footwear segment. Müller Meirer has specialized in leathergoods licensing for such brands as Bogner, Porsche Design, Joop!, Strellson, Comma, Oilily, Gerry Weber and Mustang. The company also has three private labels, Maître, 08/16 and H. Müller x Söhne. It manufactures not only leathergoods and shoes, but also luggage. Janzen worked previously for Pikolinos, the Spanish shoe manufacturer in Alicante, where he served as sales director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa since the beginning of 2016. Before joining Pikolinos, he worked for more than eight years at Ecco, most recently as sales director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before Ecco, he worked for the shoe division at Marc O'Polo. Further stops in his career include Bree, the Adidas Group and Breuninger in Stuttgart, where he was senior buyer for shoes and leathergoods. In October of last year, as previously reported in Shoe Intelligence, Pikolinos appointed a new sales manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Micael Sánchez, who was previously in charge of France and the Benelux countries. Like Janzen, Nieves González resigned last year from Pikolinos, where she was country sales manager for German-speaking countries.
