Nina Footwear has appointed Alan Johnson as president of the company, a new position for the New York-based design house and producer, which sells footwear under the Nina and Delman brands. The former president of Delman, Lance DeShazo, and the former brand manager of Nina, Michael Shirey, have both left the company. In his new role, Johnson will oversee design, sales and marketing for Delman and for all of Nina's divisions, including shoes, bridal items, handbags and kids. He will work closely with the company's chief executive, Ezra Dabah, and its chief strategic officer, Jason Yagoda. Most recently, Johnson was vice president of sales for women's accessories and women\'s and men's footwear at Cole Haan. Prior to that, he held the position of director of sales at Hugo Boss USA. Johnson's combined strategic and creative skills are expected to help Nina Footwear pursue its strategy to build Nina into a lifestyle brand, with a full assortment covering the everyday needs of women, while reinforcing the brand's dominant share in the special-occasion segment. Under Johnson's management, the company also expects to strengthen the position of its Delman brand within the luxury segment.
