Organizers of the GDS/GLS show in Düsseldorf claim that it has reached the turnaround point, after several years of decline. With a total of 1,378 companies showing at the next session on Sept. 14-16, the total number of exhibitors is up by 8 percent from one year ago, including growth of 12 percent from Italy, Spain and France combined. The British presence has almost doubled to 14 companies. The Exclusivity area in Hall 9 will accommodate 32 percent more exhibitors, for a total of 150 brands. About 280 brands are coming back to the fair or showing there for the first time. Among several events surrounding the exhibition, a group of 25 Spanish shoe manufacturers will show styles inspired by Carmen, the star of the opera by Georges Bizet.
