Paul Mason has been made non-executive chairman of Dr. Martens, taking the place of David Suddens, who is leaving the fast-growing brand acquired by the Permira investment fund last year. Suddens spent 13 years at the helm of the company, achieving its turnaround. Mason had acted briefly as non-executive chairman of New Look until a recent change of ownership. He has been president of Levi Strauss for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and chief executive of Asda, Somerfield and Matalan. Mason will work with Steve Murray, the new chief executive of Dr. Martens appointed at the beginning of this year.
