Peter Bird, former finance director of Clayton & Sons, has bought the assets of the bankrupt British supplier of leather for shoes and accessories from the Clayton Leather Group, according to Drapers magazine. The group itself went into administration, a form of bankruptcy on Oct. 4, retaining only 12 employees. Clayton & Sons, which has been renamed as Spire Leather Company, went into administration on Sept. 20 after losing orders and customers, says Drapers.
