Peter Kaiser, the German manufacturer of women's shoes, is reducing staff at its headquarters in Pirmasens. According to a report in a local newspaper, the headquarters has shed about 40 employees, bringing the total down to 200. According to Stefan Frank, chief executive, Peter Kaiser could no longer avoid reducing its local production in Germany. After streamlining the administration, the company decided to move some of its production to a site in Portugal. The reasons for the decision were structural changes in the shoe industry and problematic business development in 2018.
