Philip Hallerfelt, an agent who represents Loake Shoemakers in Sweden, was awarded the title of Agent of the Year 2012 at the recent annual meeting of IUCAB, the international agents association. For the past two years, with Hallerfelt in charge, Swedish sales of Loake shoes have doubled, turning Sweden into the largest export market for the English brand, along with South Korea. The IUCAB jury's justification for the prize was that Hallerfelt had shown courage and ingenuity in tackling a traditional English brand at a time of recession, turning it into a trendy brand sold in the the right stores as well through more traditional dealers across Sweden. Started in 1880 by three brothers in Northamptonshire, Loake today sells its handmade shoes in 70 countries worldwide.
