Preben Boas, the longtime executive director of the Danish sporting goods manufacturers association, SL, has formally taken over the management of DSF, the Danish association of shoe suppliers, as well. Some of the 37 members of DSF, such as Ecco, belong to both associations. Boas takes the place of Jette Borresen, who is retiring after 33 years in the position. She had combined the job with the management of the Copenhagen Shoe Center, a permanent showroom, which has been closed down. Its activities have been taken over by the Bella Center, which is hosting the new redesigned “Shoe Galleries” during the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) starting on Aug. 9. Boas is not a novice to the shoe trade. He was involved in the launch of the Kawasaki line of vulcanized shoes, among others.
