Quick Schuh, the discount retail franchisor owned by Ariston-Nord-West-Ring, suffered a 6.1 percent drop in revenues to €2.92 million, but maintained its profitability by cutting down costs. The turnover of the retail members declined by 5 percent to €135.6 million as the number of affiliated stores shrank, with 28 closures and 13 bankruptcies more than offsetting 12 new openings. The biggest problems were encountered by the smaller shops. A total of 35 units have been converted to the larger new Quick Future concept, which places emphasis on brands, and their average prices are up.
