Red Wing Shoe Company is opening its first flagship in Manhattan, specifically at 11 Penn Plaza in Midtown. The store's 3,300 square feet will contain a New York City Wall of Honor, for famous locals who like the brand's boots, and a boot repair and care bar, with customer service on hand and accessories such as laces, inserts and socks. Headquartered in Red Wing, Minnesota, the company has been producing work boots for over a century. The new store, with its prime retail location, seems to reflect a strategy to expand the company's presence in the urban market. Red Wing also recently launched Red Wing for Business, a digital platform that goes beyond e-commerce to generate digital vouchers, provide volume pricing and help employers consolidate the invoicing of employee purchases and match employee eligibility for purchases with employee turnover, among other things. The same group owns the Irish Setter, Vasque and Worx brands, which together are distributed in some 110 countries. It also owns S.B. Foot Tanning. Between stores, third-party stores and e-commerce sites, there are more than 500 Red Wing points of sale.
