Rockport, the brown shoe brand of the Reebok International group, will try to expand its distribution in the sporting goods stores through new outdoor models for men and women for the 2nd half of this year. Rockport’s sales declined by 6.4 percent to $361.0 million in the past year, with an 8.7 percent drop in local currencies. The situation worsened in the 4th quarter, particularly because of the bankruptcies of several independent shoe retailers. Instead, Ralph Lauren Footwear and the Greg Norman apparel collection together raised their sales last year by 24.6 percent in dollars and by 24.5 percent on a currency-neutral basis, reaching $187.8 million.
