Rocky Brands reported that its net income for the second quarter of 2012 was down to $0.2 million, compared with $2.3 million in the second quarter of 2011. Net sales declined by 15 percent to $44.4 million. According to the company, the earnings drop was due in large part to severe storms on June 29 that knocked out power at the company's distribution center in Logan, forcing a temporary suspension of shipping capabilities. Approximately $2.5 million worth of shipments were pushed from the second into the third quarter. Wholesale revenues for the quarter were $34.7 million, down by 15 percent from 2011, due to softness in the hunting business. Retail sales were $9.1 million, down by 16 percent from 2011. Military sales were flat at $0.6 million. Excluding the impact from the power outage, results were said to be in line with expectations.
