Rocky Brands will launch a line of Michelin branded outdoor footwear through a deal with the large French tire and travel company for the U:S: market. The shoes will be distributed through Rocky’s Lehigh brand channel and its various accounts in the USA. A line of Michelin safety shoes has already been on the market in the USA since 2004 through a deal with another footwear producer; Gear Six. Michel already licenses a line of tennis footwear to a French tennis company, Babolat, under a global deal. Rocky has just warned investors that it will incur a loss on 13 percent lower sales for the latest quarter, due to weaker than expected sales of outdoor boots in June and the absence of new military boot sales. The company has refined a 6-year $30 million term loan on more favorable terms, resulting in net annual savings of approximately $1 million.
