Roland Mouret has been appointed creative director of Robert Clergerie, the French shoe company recently acquired by Marc Loubier and an investment fund controlled by the owners of Li & Fung in Hong Kong. The 49-year-old French designer worked for the same company in the early 1990s, before a glorious career that led him to move to London and to put out the first apparel collection under his name, first presented at London Fashion Week in 1998. He was once awarded the prize of British designer of the year. Still based in London, he has most recently been a partner in XIX Entertainment, a company run by Simon Fuller that has been involved in the management of famous athletes, artists and other celebrities such as David Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.
