Roots has appointed Jim A. Gabel as president and chief executive officer. The company has also announced the appointment of Jim Rudyk as its chief financial officer. Both appointments are effective as of Feb. 24. Gabel brings more than 24 years of experience in the footwear and apparel industry. Most recently, he served as president of The Performance Group of Wolverine World Wide, a role for which he oversaw the Saucony, Merrell and Chaco brands. Prior to that, he worked for 13 years with Adidas, where he held various senior executive positions including president of Adidas Group Canada and president of Reebok North America. Rudyk is an experienced financial executive with a record of supporting ambitious growth plans. In his latest position, as chief financial officer of Shred-It, he helped the company to increase revenues from around $200 million to more than $700 million. This experience will be of use to Roots as the company embarks on a plan to expand in Canada and globally. In October 2015, Searchlight Capital Partners acquired a majority stake in Roots, and Searchlight's investment is focused on supporting Roots' long-term growth, both in Canada and internationally. Roots has currently 245 retail stores in Canada, the U.S. and Asia.
