Rucoline celebrates its 25th anniversary with a new sneaker, a rehash of its original Ariel model. The shoe, released in limited edition, is made in shades of gold and silver, with gems on the upper part. The bottom of the shoe is completely emptied to provide lightness, and features a double sole with a 5-cm heel inside. Rucoline, best known for its feminine and ethnic-tricot sneakers, was founded by Marco Santucci and Daniela Penchini in 1987 and is based near Perugia, in central Italy. Rucoline's sales rose by 2 percent in 2011 to €17 million, with 70 percent coming from export markets. Its operating profit before amortization increased by 40 percent to €2.8 million.
