Salamander came back as an exhibitor to the GDS fair. Since Ara Shoes took over the Salamander and Lurchi brands in 2009, the Salamander Group has not exhibited at any trade fairs. Salamander presented its first collection for men, which will be in the stores from spring/summer 2012. The brand launched its first collection for women already in fall/winter 2011 and presented the second collection for women, coming out in spring/summer 2012, at the GDS fair. The company plans to participate in trade fairs again, first to show that it is back on the market and second to present its collection for men, women and children to retailers. All Salamander stores in Germany were taken over by the Klauser Group soon after the brand's takeover in 2009. Salamander expects that it needs about six seasons to develop the strengths of the collections. The new shoe collections are sold to retailers in Germany and to foreign Salamander subsidiaries in Austria, France, Russia, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. The main markets for Salamander are Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the Benelux countries and Eastern Europe. The company aims to move into new markets by means of licenses, as for example in the Georgian Republic, where Salamander is already in talks with a future licensee.
