Salamander is considering the start-up of a global store franchising program in two-three years’ time, according to Schuhkurier. It wants to build up the presence of the Salamander brand in its stores from 20 to 30 percent of the offerings. The German-based shoe retail chain, which was acquired by Egana Goldpfeil in April 2005, has just opened a company-owned store in Hamburg’s Mönkebergstrasse which shares the ground floor with a Benetton apparel shop, like a store recently opened in the center of Munich. It has also redecorated its store in Dortmund, featuring some 40 different footwear brands very prominently.
