Sales rose by 24 percent in the first six months of the year on Milan's fashion street via Montenapoleone, according to the retailers' association Associazione della via Montenapoleone. It added that 80 percent of revenues were generated by foreigners. The association has introduced a card enabling non-EU residents to obtain an immediate reimbursement of the value-added tax and a 15 percent bonus to spend in the street. The association noted that before the introduction of the card, foreigners would have the tax reimbursed at the airport, spending their money elsewhere. The card is being rolled out in the street's shops. The card is managed in partnership with the company Premier Tax Free.
