Salvatore Ferragamo reports a 10 percent sales increase to €253 million for the 1st half of 2005, with increases of 23 percent for the USA, 50 percent for Latin America and 48 percent for China. Sales of men’s shoes rose by 11 percent. Perfumes and women’s apparel did even better. New stores have been opened or are about to be opened in Lima, Athens, Osaka, Berlin, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo and Paris. The disposal of Emmanuel Ungaro’s fashion house is now expected by the end of this year. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the likely buyer is a wealthy American of Pakistani origin, Azim Abdullah.
