Sover has signed a 5-year licensing agreement for the manufacture and distribution of sunglasses and optical frames signed by Baldinini, the fast-growing Italian footwear and leathergoods company that belongs to Antichi Pellettieri, controlled by Mariella Burani Fashion Group. Sover already produces an eyewear line under the name of Mariella Burani, first presented at the end of 2005, at the same time as it stopped a license with Lotto. Sover’s first Baldinini collection will be presented at the MIDO trade show in May. It will initially only comprise sunglasses and will later be extended to prescription frames. The collection is expected to be distributed in over 70 countries around the world, with a particular focus on Italy and on Eastern Europe, where both Sover and Baldinini are particularly strong. Another brand of Antichi Pellettieri, Braccialini, showed its first eyewear line at the SILMO fair in Paris a few days ago. It is licensed to another Italian company, Vecellio (more in EyeWear Intelligence).
