Start-rite Shoes has sold One Small Step to Step2wo, the London-based premium kid's shoe label. Start-rite reportedly made the decision to sell the business, which it had acquired in 2011, in order to focus on its core brand. One Small Step has eight stores and four concessions across the U.K. and Ireland. The shops will be rebranded as Step2wo and will continue to sell the Start-rite collection, alongside a range of other upscale brands.
Step2wo already operates concessions at Selfridges on Oxford Street, Harvey Nichols in London, Leeds and Edinburgh, Brown Thomas in Dublin and Cork, and Fenwick's Brent Cross branch. It also sells through the Step2wo, Selfridges and Brown Thomas e-commerce sites.
Start-rite's divestiture of One Small Step follows the announcement, in early February, that the company had appointed Ian Watson as its new chief executive. Watson, formerly the European managing director of Britax, succeeds Peter Lamble, who stepped down as joint chairman and chief executive after 20 years.
