Steve Madden has tapped Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to be the creative directors for Superga North America after getting the license for the brand from its parent company, BasicNet. He hopes to make the 100-year-old Italian brand a big player in the U.S. The former child star twins will handle creative and marketing initiatives and oversee distribution. Superga will be sold in upscale department stores and specialty boutiques. For the spring 2012 season, expect a new line co-branded Superga and The Row, the luxury brand of apparel and accessories started by the Olsens. Steve Madden already works with the Olsens on the Elizabeth & James and Olsenboye footwear lines.
