Steve Madden’S Fourth-quarter Profit Up On Lower Sales

Net income rose by 53.0 percent to $7.2 million for the quarter ended Dec. 31 on a 15.9 percent increase in sales to $119.1 million. Gross margins for the period were 2.5 percentage points higher at 40.4 percent because of improvements in the wholesale and retail divisions.
