Stylo plc has won an 18-month-old legal dispute that will allow it to open 50 stores in the UK over the next four years under a trendy new banner, Shutopia. The rights to the brand were claimed by a retailer in Lancashire, but it has given up its claims in a settlement worth £37,500. Stylo had launched the new format in 2005, but put it on hold because of the dispute. Four Stylo stores in Belfast, Boreham Wood, Rotheram and Leister are currently carrying the Shutopia banner, and at least two others will follow by next February. The stores sell the group’s Barratts and Shellys ranges along with other brands such as Rocket Dog, Kickers and Skechers.
