Sugi International has signed a 5-year licensing contract for a line of children’s footwear to be distributed in Europe under the Diadora brand. The fast-growing Hong Kong-based shoe company, which is also the global licensee for Replay footwear, had previously signed a limited licensing deal with Fila for a line of children’s footwear that was distributed in Deichmann’s stores for a limited 1-year time frame in 2004. The company already markets a small brand of trendy shoes for girls up to the age of 9, called Lulù. Founded by Matteo and Massimo Sinigaglia in 1992, Sugi sources more than 8 million pairs of shoes annually. Sugi reached a consolidated turnover of $78 million last year, of which $18 million was accounted for by the Replay license.
