Susan Saidman has been promoted by Amazon to the position of European vice president for fashion, replacing Sergio Bucher who has become the chief executive of Debenhams, the British department store chain. Saidman has been with Amazon since November 2013, acting first as head of global vendor management in Seattle and then running its fashion business in India. She will now act as vice president of Amazon for France, Germany, Italy and the U.K. She will also run the online retailer's private brand, BuyVIP. Her nomination just comes while one of LVMH's top executives, Jean-Jacques Guiony, issues a statement that there is “no way” it will work directly with Amazon, although some of its brands can be ordered through retailers who are hosted on its marketplace.
